Wexford Manuscript: Account Book kept by the Byrne family (C.R. Byrne Esq. and Mrs Cecilia Byrne) of Rosemount House, Mount Elliott, New Ross. Begins with rental for 1844 listing 102 tenants by townland; continues with very detailed accounts of “ Sums paid ” and “ Cash received” (mainly rents and sale of produce) from August 1843 to August 1852. Some loose papers (workmen’s bills, correspondence …). Full straight grained morocco, with clasp. Rosemount House, picturesquely sited overlooking the River Barrow, was built in 1761 and occupied successively by the Garrett, Rossiter, Byrne and Place families. During the later 20th century it changed hands several times, owners including Willie Mullins (who established a stud farm there) and Aristotelis “Telly ” Savalis, the Greek-American actor best known for his roles as Kojak in the TV series and as Blofeld in “ On Her Majesty’s Secret Service ”. The house was burned twice, in 1925 and 1997, but subsequently restored. As a m/ss., w.a.f.
