John Beer, British (1883-1915) “The Windsor Castle Stakes, Ascot 1913,” and “The Gimcrack Stakes, York 1913,”watercolour and gouache, each with horse identified, approx. 25cms x 35cms (10” x 14”), Signed lower right and left, in matching gilt tipped oak frames. In the Manner of Peter Paul Reubens (1577-1640) “The Triumphant Return of David,”O.O.C., celebratory scene of young David returning to a triumphant group of women and soldiers carrying the head of Goliath, approx. 58cms x 84cms (23” x 33”), relined, in later gilt frame. An alabaster / marble composite Head and Shoulder Bust, of Apollo on socle base, approx. 31cms (12”) high; an attractive head and shoulder Bust of an elegant Lady, with her hair in a bun, wide collar top on turned base, approx. 37cms (14½”) high. (2) €200 - €300 885. An attractive pair of Danish terracotta circular wall relief Plaques, 22cms (8¾”) diameter, by P. Ipsen, Eneret, Copenhagen, both with Neo-classical designs. (2) €120 - €160 886. An early 20th Century decorated and carved Indian Writing Slope, with overall floral and animal design, fitted interior; also another similar Desk Box of unusual shape with overall carved floral and animal design, with fitted interior; and a Chinese red lacquered Table Cabinet, the hinged lid with mirror above two drawers, brass handles, decorated in the typical taste. An important Louis XVI oval walnut and tulip wood Table En- Chiffonier, French 18th Century, by Jean-Pierre Dusautoy (1719-1800) stamped, with three quarter pierced brass gallery, the oval top with a tooled leather inset, inside a crossbanded edge, above three drawers, the top drawer with fitted interior, each ornate with brass escutcheon, raised on four shaped legs, united by a kidney shaped stretcher shelf, 82cms x 51cms (32” x 20”). (1) Provenance: Purchased in Paris by Lord Charles Beresford, having been once the Property of Queen Marie Antoinette. It was given as a gift to Mrs. Maude of Belgard Castle, Clondalkin, Dublin on the birth of her son Marcus “Markie”Maude in 1896, he died in Mesopotamia aged 24, 24th January 1921. By descent to Mount Juliet from Colonel Silcock, where purchased by the present vendor. €3,000 - €4,000 882.
