Important Victorian Brewer’s Notebook Manuscript: A small but

comprehensive volume compiled by P. Ronayne Conron of Wrexham

in North Wales, containing notes on brewing etc., between 1840 and

1867, finely written, over 500pp. Sm. 8vo full cont. vellum. Includes an

extensive collection of recipes, tips etc, for brewing different types of

beer, as well as other drinks such as cordials; reports on visits to various

breweries (The Albion Brewery in Kensington; The Waterloo Brewery in

Oldham; Mr. Langton’s Brewery, Wandsworth etc) notes on preserving

food, making gunpowder, ink etc; and extracts from newspapers (‘’The

Secret of Irish Horse Charming’’ - ‘’To make shoes waterproof ’’...). A

most interesting compilation, needs further research. As a m/ss, w.a.f. (1)
