* This is the first and only time that Ophir
won the cup, they no longer exist.

Medal: G.A.A. Hurling 1931,
an
attractive 9ct gold pierced Celtic Cross
Medal, the obverse with Celtic scroll
and inscribed “Cumann na gCleas - luith
Gaedhael,” and “Eire” across the middle, with
a central harp overlay, the reverse inscribed
“Craobh Iomana na hEireann Sinsear
1931 - Corcaigh a buaidh,” hall marked J.M.
(John Millar); together with a miniature
Liam Mc Carthy solid silver replica Cup, the
four handled chalice type cup with Celtic
motifs, inscribed “Craobh na hEireann ar an
gCaman 1931 i mBaile Atha Cliath do bronn
mise ar Liam Mac Fhlannchaidh,” hallmarked
O’Connell of Cork, on wooden base, a rare
pair, extremely desirable.
* This was Cork’s 11th title but it didn’t come
easy as Lory Meagher and his Noresiders
pushed the final to a second replay. The
Rebels eventually were crowned Champions
on a victorious score line of 5.8 to 3.4.
