London, c. 1789 Economics Manuscript: A folio manuscript entitled
‘’Dispaccio del Residente Veneto a Londra Gasparo Sodarini con alcune
osservazioni sulla Gran Brettagna’’ [Dispatch from the Venetian Resident
in London Gasparo Sodarini with certain observations on Great Britain].
Gasparo Sodarini [sic] was the representative of the Republic of Venice
in London during the late 1780s and sent back many reports to the
Senate on aspects of the British establishment. This volume of over 200

Though undated, it seems to have been compiled in about 1789. The
author’s researches have been thorough and his findings are supported
by a multitude of statistics. A significant insight into the affairs of Britain
(and Ireland) on the brink of the French Revolution, as noted by a
perceptive Italian. In cont. calf backed boards. As a m/ss, w.a.f. (1)
