Photographs from a DistinguishedWaterford Military Family Album: An interesting collection of photos taken in India showing members of the Anderson family of Gracedieu, Co. Waterford, and of British and Indian soldiers campaigning on the North West Frontier in 1897. The campaign is described by Winston Churchill in his book The Malakand Field Force, The commander was Maj. Gen. Sir Bindon Blood (shown here in a group with his officers) and the soldiers are shown at Camp Khar and marching to the relief of Chakdara Fort. The photographs include Col. Charles Alexander Anderson, his wife Ellen Katherine (nee Russell), and their young children. Also a mounted photo of the three brothers Col. Charles Alexander Anderson (later Lt. Gen, KCB, GOC Southern Command, India), Major Francis James Anderson (later |Maj.
