Offaly . Mid-19th cent., full red morocco with blind tooled borders. Short titles of books listed in alphabetical order. Loughton was built in 1777 by Major Thomas Pepper and passed in succession to his daughter-in-law Anne Bloomfield (d 1841), her brother the first Lord Bloomfield (d 1846), his son the second Lord, and his brother-in-law Henry Trench, who purchased the house in 1872. The book titles consist mainly of works of English and French literature, history, genealogy and travel, the latest date given being 1840, and the catalogue may have been compiled by the first Lord Bloomfield on succeeding to the estate in 1841.
