Glenn Storhaug, finely illustrated (some in colours) by John Furnival, Jeff Nuttall, Enok Sweetland and others, folio wheaten cloth, morocco spine, wheaten slipcase, No. 1 of two out-of-series copies (‘overs’) from an edition of 50 Special Copies, designed, hand set and printed by Glenn Storhaug and Signed by him. Includes Heaney’s poem Sile Na Gig at p.18-19. With the editor/publisher’s complete archive, of over 60 Signed Letters (Autograph or typescript) from about 18 contributors and copyright- holders, including three from Heaney, also typescripts and / or proofs for some of the texts, some including significant alterations; also an ALS from the publisher to Dr. Philip Murray of Sligo, offering him the archive for IR£ 850. All in very good condition, neatly collected in a titled folder. A splendid Collection for anyone interested in fine publishing and the assembly of special projects. Heaney (Seamus) An important and comprehensive collection of about 35 mostly autograph Signed Letters, Notes and Cards from Heaney to a wide range of associates and correspondents, 1979- 2000 approx., many concerning or mentioning his writing, also an excellent range of about 30 Photographic Prints showing Heaney throughout his career, on his own or with other writers and cultural figures, all assembled by Dr. Philip Murray of Sligo in two plastic folders. An unrepeatable collection, ranging from significant to ephemeral, which could never be assembled today, sufficient on its own to make a very respectable Heaney collection for any library or collector. It also give a vivid impression of just how busy Heaney was for most of his life, and how difficult it sometimes was for him to make time for his writing among all the other demands on his attention.
