Narratives of two Voyages by a Cork Yachtsman [Corinthian] Typescripts of two Log-Books of the yacht ‘Gull ‘kept by her captain- owner, the solicitor Henry P.F. Donegan. · A voyage from Crosshaven to Cornwall and down the west coast of France in July 1923, replete with narrative detail, liberally supplied with photographs and a hand-drawn map; 27ff. · A race from Ryde (Isle of Wight) round the Fastnet and back to Plymouth in August 1925. The competitors had to contend not only with each other but with the vagaries of the elements, as witness this entry for 21 August: “Relieved of my watch on deck owing to a scald (which raised a nasty blister on my left instep) incurred when making tea in the fo’c’stle. I am resuming this narrative under exceptional difficulty. The cabin swing table is doing its level best to assassinate me. I have been struck in the chest and chin, while the weighty box beneath is making frantic efforts to amputate one or both of my legs,” With photographs of the Voyages, some m/ss notes, as a lot. Records of the Cork Commercial Buildings Company Manuscripts: Four volumes, leather- bound, containing records of the Company during the 19th Century: • Treasurer’s Account Current Book, containing details of income and expenditure from 1814 to 1874; • Letter book, containing copies of letters from 1840 to 1874, signed by the company’s secretaries, successively Anthony Perrier and James B. Perrier; • Transfer Book “no. 2”, containing details of the transfer of shares in the company, generally on the death of a shareholder, from 1857 to 1894; 292 entries; • Index of subscribers as of 25 March 1874 A record of significant Cork interest, involving several hundred individuals in the city and neighbourhood. Also: a bound copy of the act for liquidating the Munster Bank and transferring its assets to the Munster and Leinster Bank, 1887. €1500 - €2000 517. A large, interesting and diverse collection of Irish English Literature and Poetry assembled by the Poet Sean Clarkin, including many First Edns and some Signed Presentation Copies. The collection includes works by Patrick Kavanagh, Brendan Kennelly, Seamus Heaney, Paul Muldoon, John Montague, Derek Mahon, Pearse Hutchinson, Eilean ni Chuilleanain, and many others, published by Gallery Press, Dolmen and others, some with inscription notes etc., mostly hardbacks with dust wrappers and some paperbacks.
