Lady Kate Dobbin, (1868-1955) An early 20th Century wooden Paint Box, opening to reveal fitted interior paints and sample colours, the lid with brass plaque initialed ‘K.D. (Kate Dobbin); together with four travelling metal watercolour Boxes [one with manuscript label ‘K. Dobbin], as a collection. (5) Provenance: Private Collector, Cork City. Lady Kate Dobbin was born in Bristol, the daughter of WilliamWise, a solicitor. In 1887 she married Alfred Graham Dobbin who was knighted in 1900 for his role as High Chief Sherriff of the City of Cork. Lady Dobbin studied at the Crawford Municipal School of Art between 1891 and 1895. She submitted her first picture to the RHA in 1894 and continued to show there until 1947 exhibiting a total of one hundred and five paintings. She worked mainly in watercolours, painting scenes of Cork and the surrounding countryside. €300 - €400 786. 18th Century Irish School “Portrait of a young girl wearing frilled bonnet, and brown decorative dress holding a black dog,” oval, O.O.C., approx. 40cms x 30cms (16” x 12”), in moulded gilt and wooden frame. An attractive 19th Century French ormolu figural Mantle Clock, the top with assimilated cliff with birds over a round dial with Roman numerals, (Signed Paris) resting against a Gentleman holding musical instrument on a stepped rectangular base with pierced Gothic design, and conforming legs, mounted on an associated oval wooden musical stand, approx. 43cms high x 26cms wide (17” x 10¼”). Casper Netscher, Dutch (1639-1684) “Young Lady picking Roses,”O.O.P., Portrait of an elegant Young Lady with blonde hair wearing satin dress seated in a classical setting by a potted rose bush, approx. 28cms x 20cms (11” x 8”) in ornate gilt frame.
