McClintock Royal Navy. (1) Note: Captain H.V.P. McClintock captained the British Aircraft carrier H.M.S. Chaser. Under his command, Swordfish aircraft from Squadron 816 operated from H.M.S. A rare 19th Century Irish single barrel Shotgun, with damascus pattern barrel by W. & J Rigby, Dublin with engraved stock, mahogany butt and numbered 8064. (1) Note: While shooting at Castlegar in the early 1830's Robert, 3rd Lord Clonbrock was warned to 'Duck, My Lord,' Mistakenly expecting an opportunity to shoot some ducks, he was really being warned that a neighboring gun, Lord Dunsandle, was about to fire a dangerously low shot. Despite losing his right eye Clonbrock was not discouraged, ordering several new guns and rifles, all with cross-over stocks that allowed him to shot from his right shoulder using his left eye, from John Rigby, the leading Dublin gunmaker, and from James Purdey in London. Over the next sixty years Clonbrock became one of the leading Irish game shots of his generation.
