An Indian MADU Buckler or Parrying Shield, a self defense weapon favored by both the Marathas and Bhil people, Jogis and fakirs, consists of two blackbuck antelope horns pointing in opposite direction with the horn tops reinforced with two small spearheads made of steel. An Indian hide Shield (Dhal), 18th / 19th Century of shallow convex circular form, the outer face fitted with four large domed steel bosses with chiseled bases, the inside retaining an early velvet pad and four iron rings and straps.
