(1) Provenance : Purchased by the family of the present owner at Carton House Dispersal Sale on behalf of the Dukes of Leinster in the late 1940's. €400 - €600 129. A cased set of 36, Canteen of Cutlery, comprising 12 Forks, 12 Diner Knives, and 12 etched blade Fish Knives, all with floral rococo design handles, with monogram ‘M.C.,’ by Henry Matthews, c. 1880’s, approx. 57 ounces (overall) the case with brass monogrammed inset ‘M.C.’.
