(1) €70 - €100 Early Deeds, Manuscripts & Pamphlets 611. Late 17th Century Cork City Deed with Drawing of Houses Auction Catalogues Co. Cork: Manuscript: Indenture dated 18 September 1694 between Sir John Rogerson, Lord Mayor of Dublin, and Christopher Crofts of Cork, Alderman. Recites an indenture dated 20 April 1668 whereby Richard and Henry Tichborne of Dublin granted to Noblet Duncomb, Thomas Farren and Robert Fletcher of Cork, one waste piece of ground in the north suburbs of the city, on which are now erected two houses with other back buildings. The interest in the lease now lies with Rogerson and Duncomb alone, and Duncomb has granted it to Crofts, who is to hold it for 26 years at a rent of £4.4.0. Vellum, 60cms x 72 cms. The deed gives details of the bounds of the property, with much topographical information. In the margin are a sketch map and a detailed elevation depicting the houses – a rare treat for such an early period, as a m/ss, w.a.f. (1) €300 - 400 612. Early 18th Century Grant of Lands in Kilkenny from the Duke of Ormonde Co. Kilkenny: Printed Indenture dated 5 December 1701 between James [2nd] Duke of Ormonde and Anthony Cliffe of “Dungulp”, Co. Wexford, granting him the town etc of Curraghmore in the Barony of Iverk, Co. Kilkenny. Cliffe is to make a down payment of £49.7.0 and pay an annual rent of £13.6.8 plus “one fatt beefe” or £1.10., and to do suit of court to the Manor of Grannagh. Vellum, 47cms x 50 cms, as a m/ss, w.a.f. (1) €180 - 250 613. Captured by a Spanish Privateer Naval Interest: Public Instrument of Protest, dated 29 November 1801 made before Clement Thomas Richardson, notary public in the island of Grenada, by John Fly (master), George Smith (mate), andWilliamWatts (carpenter) of the brig Nautilus. They relate how they had sailed under convoy from Demerara bound for London with a cargo of sugar, rum and coffee. Dropping behind, the brig was captured by the Spanish privateer Guaraguara and taken into Comana, where it was declared a lawful prize. The crew were brought to Grenada under a flag of truce. The notary now protests the capture and declares that the costs should be borne by the underwriter. M/ss with signatures and seal, as a m/ss, w.a.f. (1) €180 - 250 614. Military: Commission of an Irish Officer during the NapoleonicWars Commission dated 30 October 1805, Signed by George III, appointing John Dillon an ensign in the 32nd / Cornwall Regiment of Foot. On vellum, 24cms x 34cms, as a document, w.a.f. (1) €100 - 150 615. 18th Century Deed of Waterford City Waterford Interest: Indenture dated 5 October 1732 made between the Mayor Sheriffs and Citizens of Waterford and Thomas Christmas of same, granting him“a waste piece of ground fronting Crickens Green whereon lately stood a house and slaughter house, with part of the garden behind”. Signed by the mayor, John Moore, and the two sheriffs. Seal of the city of Waterford, blind stamp over wax. On vellum, 36cms x 68 cms, as a m/ ss, w.a.f. (1) €160 - 240 611 612 615 610
