Minute Book, 1932-1941 . In a thick folio volume, hf. morocco on heavy buckram-covered boards, 474 numbered pages (and a few unnumbered), mostly typescript reports laid down, from June 1939 some manuscript reports directly written in, all duly signed by Chairmen. Covers worn but internally in very good condition throughout. Directors’meetings were generally held monthly. The minutes, which are tersely written, usually include attendance of directors and shareholders, applications and correspondence, financial matters, transfer requests and decisions (some to and from English clubs, with much detail about named players), appointments, disputes and disagreements, legal matters, relations with the Irish Football League, etc. From September 1939 onward there are occasional references to war conditions, availability of players who may have returned from England, petrol rationing, air raids (meeting 30 June 1941, p.464, Glentoran offered use of Grosvenor Park as ‘owing to the recent Air Raid’ their own ground was wrecked , war damage insurance etc., otherwise business as usual. [The German air raids on Belfast took place in April and May 1941]. The volume concludes with the meeting of 22 Sept. 1941, followed by minutes of the AGM of 5 July 1940 (out of sequence), countersigned 6.10.41. A volume of particular interest and importance to anyone with knowledge of the players and personalities involved. The Distillery Club was founded in 1879. €1000 - €1500 458.
