Irvine (John) (1903-1964), Poet. A Portfolio of his work assembled by his friend Terence Graham between 1959 and 1963, including a signed photograph, three autograph signed letters to Graham, signed manuscript copies in Irvine’s hand of six poems, including his poem in memory of Armour of Ballymoney, and two poems said to be unpublished, all neatly mounted in an album bound in stiff card. Irvine, born in Belfast, published about six collections of lyrics between 1932 and 1954, mostly from small presses in Belfast and Dublin. From the ‘House of the Dead’ James Joyce’s Timpiece [Joyce (James)] A George III period Grandfather Clock , the mahogany body with break neck pediment, and blind fretwork, over a glazed door, enclosing a painted dial, signed May of Dublin, the shaped panel door with crossbanding flanked by reeded columns on a square base with bracket feet, approx. 236cms (93”) high; together with a red brick block, taken during the restoration at 15 Ushers Island. (1) Provenance: No. 15 Ushers Island (House of the Dead) home of James Joyce’s aunts, and by descent.
